Catholic Life and Mission
At St Laurence’s we welcome our partnership with parents and the community.
We aim to provide an education that enables each child to reach their full potential.
We believe this can only be achieved by creating an atmosphere where all are valued, gifts and talents are celebrated and the gospel values of love, respect and justice are at the heart of all we do.
School Religious Education is the core subject in the curriculum and influences all that we teach and enables us to develop the whole person.
Through religious education teaching and learning, we aim to:
- Provide each child with the opportunity to develop their relationship with God.
- Promote knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith and life.
- Develop awareness and understanding of the impact of faith upon our daily lives.
- Foster attitudes of respect towards all who live in our society.
Liturgies and Celebrations
Throughout the year we have a number of different celebrations and gatherings together to think about our reflections and thoughts. We think and reflect upon our topics from Come and See through our Respond celebrations in class and plan our Prayer and Liturgy sessions.
We also celebrate our themes with our parents in whole year group celebrations.
Our recent Year 2 and Year 5 celebrations were lovely for our parents and families to attend.

Reception Prayer and Liturgy
Our Reception children also lead and join in with our Prayer and Liturgy sessions. This is a celebration from the end of our topic. We came together as a year group to celebrate.
Whole School Celebrations and Community
Throughout the year we raise money for a number of charities including CAFOD, Children in Need and local charities including the Annual Kirkby Sleigh crusade.
Each year, as part of our community work within the Kirkby Collaborative we decorate our school and homes with Christmas Stars. This is to pass on the message that each of us is shining in the likeness and image of God. We share these in our foyer windows, classroom windows and at home.
Christmas Lunch
We were able to celebrate with each other this year for our Christmas lunch. All of our children really enjoyed themselves and were thankful for being able to spend their special lunch together.
