Science extra-curricular and enrichment activities 2022/23
At St Laurence's, we look to enhance and broaden our science provision by increasing the number of opportunities for children to engage with science instituions, adults within STEM careers and STEM activities.
Below is a list of enrichment activities that have taken place so far this academic year:
Weekly after school science club run by Mr Biggs
Knowsley Safari Park enrichment workshops (Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 – all linked to topics covered within that year group).
Natural History Enrichment workshops: Extreme Earth (Yr6)
Lapworth Museum of Geology zoom work shop focused on rocks, fossils and Mary Anning (Year 3)
Ogden Trust Mobile Library Visiting each class in our autumn term (Reception, KS1 and KS2)
Fortnightly virtual science club
Weekly out-reach science programme from All Saints High School in Year 5
National Schools Observatory (NSO) delivered a meteorite workshop
Borrow the Moon (Reception - Year 6)
British Science Week
Visit from the Royal Institue, who delivered live sceince shows to KS1 and KS2 as well as a community show in the evening for our families.
