R.E. (Come and See)
Belonging: Or lives are marked by many different experiences of being welcomed into new situations and groups. Through this topic we recognise the importance of being welcomed, of feeling comfortable with new situations and belonging to new groups. We will explore what groups we belong to and how this shapes us, including families, the community and various social groupings.
This term our learning adventure is Food, Glorious Food! Through this topic children will learn that food comes from various and diverse places. They will also discover that:
Some food is produced locally but much of our food is grown (or reared) in other countries and has to be transported over many miles to reach us.
Children will learn that different foods require different climates and soils, and that humans are needed to grow, harvest and transport food from its source to our tables.
They will also learn that whilst many people in the world produce their own food, some rely on others to farm and transport the food for their consumption.
Children will also learn that not everybody in the world has enough food to eat (and why) yet others have more than enough and may even waste the food they have.
This half term we will be focusing on learning key greetings, the days and months of the year, saying the date and counting up to thirty.
P.E. (Physical Education)
This term children pupils will continue to apply and develop a broader range of skills and use them in a range of activities. These will include modified team games, dance and gymnastics.
Children will be looking at different forms of flight and applying these skills to create their own aeroplanes.
As part of our inventors topic children will be making prototypes for their own inventions.
Through the complete spring term children will be focusing on drawing and painting and developing the techniques used to create abstract textured paintings during our Earthlings topic.
